Sept. 9th: Herbal Teas with Maria Solakofski [6pm-8pm]

Ever wonder what the medicinal properties of sage and thyme were? Want to know how make a Calendula salve? Come out to this hands-on workshop with the Toronto’s own Guerrila Gourmet, Maria Solakofski, herbalist and wild plantist extraordinaire.

Sept. 16: Putting Food ByKyla Dixon-Muir [6pm - 8pm]

Sometimes the garden provides all at once and we don’t know what to do with all our food! Kyla specializes in low-tech, low-money ways to make your garden’s bounty last into the winter. Drying tomatoes, herb and berry-infused vinegars and herb butters are some of the foods we will be cooking up.

Sept. 23: Canning, Pickling & Brining – Sarah J Harrison [6pm - 8pm]

Canning, pickling and brining are age-old techniques for preserving our harvest. Come out and help keep the tradition alive with Sarah Jean Harrison. This hands-on workshop will help beginners learn easy and low-cost methods of canning and workshop participants may leave with something to take home!

Sept. 28: Food, Earth & Culture Festival [12 noon - 5pm]

Our second annual fall festival will be taking place on Sunday, September 28th, 12-5pm. Following up on last year’s successful “Harvest Fest”, this year we are ratcheting it up another notch and making it bigger and better. Featuring Chris McKhool, world famous artist and environmental activist performing a special children’s show; along with other talented local musicians, free bike tune-ups, old-timey fair games, arts and crafts, and of course, the highlight: our free local food lunch. Just some of the flavours of this year’s Food, Earth & Culture Festival, so please keep your calendar free and come on by with your friends and family!

Sept. 30: Sprouting at Home – Toronto Sprouts [6pm - 8pm] 

Do you miss eating fresh greens from the garden once the snows come? This doesn’t have to be! Sprouting offers a fresh and local way to get your greens throughout the winter in your own apartment. Sprouts are also one of the most nutritious foods around. Participants must register in advance.
